Students/potential graduates who have guests, travelling internationally, to attend their convocation ceremony may need to submit a letter of invitation to the Canadian government (IRCC) to obtain a visitor’s visa for a family member or friend. The letter is used for immigration purposes and does not guarantee entry to Canada. This letter is not a ticket or RSVP to the convocation ceremony.
We have created a template to assist you in preparing your Letter of Invitation for IRCC. Request an educational verification letter to submit with your letter by following the steps below.
How to request a Letter of Invitation
- Once you have an eligible or approved graduation status in Mosaic, order a Current Educational Verification letter in Parchment to have the letter delivered electronically. Select ‘Letter of invitation to convocation’ from the ‘What type of letter is required?’ drop down menu.
- Write your letter of invitation using the template provided.
- Submit both your letter of invitation and the McMaster educational verification letter to IRCC.
