Writing a letter of invitation

Students/potential graduates who have guests, travelling internationally, to attend their convocation ceremony may need to submit a letter of invitation to the Canadian government (IRCC) to obtain a visitor’s visa for a family member or friend. The letter is used for immigration purposes and does not guarantee entry to Canada. This letter is not a ticket or RSVP to the convocation ceremony.

We have created a template to assist you in preparing your Letter of Invitation for IRCC. Request an educational verification letter to submit with your letter by following the steps below.

How to request a Letter of Invitation

  1. Download your “Approved to Graduate” letter from Mosaic
  2. Write your Letter of Invitation using the template provided.
  3. Submit both your “Approved to Graduate” letter and Letter of Invitation to IRCC.
  1. Download your “Enrolment Verification” letter or order a transcript through Mosaic.
  2. Write your Letter of Invitation using the template provided.
  3. Submit both your “Enrolment Verification” letter and Letter of Invitation to IRCC.
  4. When your “Approved to Graduate” status becomes available in Mosaic, download your “Approved to Graduate” letter  and submit to the IRCC to update your request.

The letters are used for immigration purposes and do not guarantee entry to Canada. These letters are not tickets to your convocation ceremony.
