Compulsory fees for essential university services:

Under the new government directive, supplemental fees charged by the university that deliver the services listed below may be charged on a compulsory basis. Details of each fee and the service it supports are listed below. For listings of the student governments/society essential service and non-essential service fees see links here.

University Athletics and Recreation Activity Fees

This fee funds the base membership to the facilities and access to the many intermural sports, that includes the use of indoor/outdoor track, pool, squash courts, saunas, open gym time and member rates for instructional/intramural programs. Check the website for add on services and gym-related fees (instructional classes, climbing wall and treadmills) and sports participation fees.

University Athletics and Recreation Sports Complex Building Fees

Charged to full time students to cover the expansion and operation of the university’s athletic and recreation buildings. These fees were approved by student referendums.

University Career Services Fees

This fee funds all career and employment supports including career counselling and advising, experiential programs (mentoring, job shadows, career placements), employer recruiting events (career fairs, employer/industry information nights) and access to our on-line job posting portal ( called OscarPlus).

University First Year Orientation Fee

Covers orientation programs for full time undergraduate students that start in July each year and support students’ transition from high school to university, including on line and in person academic skills programs.

University Student Wellness Centre Fee

This fee funds all wellness education related program, medical care (physician appointments), and access to personal counselling professionals.  Wellness education includes mindfulness, safetalks, managing stress and anxiety and peer support.

University Transcripts, Letters, Tax Forms and Certificates Fee

Covers the issuance of any of these forms upon the student’s/graduate’s request. There is an additional fee if the request is made for ‘next business day’.

Learning Resource Fee

A fee for learning resources in the Health Science programs. Eg: respiratory mask

Fees for non-essential university services:

First Year Orientation Fees – non-essential

Entertainment, clothing and community events within Welcome Week (eg. Concerts, Air Bands, Faculty t-shirts and Monday Night Lights).
