Deferring Your Attendance at Convocation

Generally, students who wish to attend Convocation ceremonies must take the degree at the Convocation immediately following the completion of the appropriate degree work. However, it is understood that in extenuating circumstances, there will be times when a student cannot attend her/his convocation. While it will not be possible for students to defer the taking of the degree, there is a process by which a student may request a deferral from attending their scheduled Convocation.

In order to make a request a deferral, please submit your letter and all supporting documentation to Michelle Zheng, Assistant Registrar, Services, in Gilmour Hall 108, or email zhengm2@mcmaster.ca.
