Live Webcast / Simulcast of Ceremonies

All convocation ceremonies will be professionally video-recorded and broadcasted live on the McMaster Convocation ceremony live webcast site. If you are experiencing difficulty viewing the live ceremony, please try visiting UStream’s Help Center. A ceremony must actually be taking place in order to be viewed live. For ceremonies that have already taken place, see the section ‘Archived Convocation Videos’ below.

Archived Convocation Videos

Approximately two weeks after each ceremony, each convocation ceremony will be posted to McMaster’s McMasterUTV YouTube channel (click on ‘playlists’ in the McMasterUTV channel). The two week delay is necessary to allow for rendering of the raw video, processing, and uploading of the video to the sites.  McMaster started video recording its convocation ceremonies in May of 2011, videos of ceremonies before this date are not available.

Guests are welcome to video record or photograph the ceremonies themselves, but we ask you to not block the view of other guests by standing in the aisles while composing your shots.

Professional Photography: Graduates

Professional photographers will be available at Convocation to photograph each graduand as they receive their degree. In addition, graduates will pose for a second photograph in front of a McMaster themed back-drop at the side of the stage before returning to their seats. Colour proofs will be e-mailed, with no obligation to purchase, within two weeks of the ceremony. For order inquiries after proofs are received, or if you do not receive your proofs, please contact GradImages at or at 1-800.372.3686 . You may also view photo proofs, if available, on the GradImages website. To provide a change of address, for further information or to opt-out of this service, please contact the McMaster Alumni Association at (905) 525-9140 ext. 23900 or

Professional Photography: Honorary Degree Recipients, Award Winners, Chancellor’s Party, and Special Guests

During all Convocation ceremonies, the University photographer may take photos of the Honorary Degree Recipients, Award Winners, Chancellor’s Party, Presidential Party, and special guests. These are often staged in the Chancellor/President’s party marshaling room, but shots on stage of special awards being received may also be captured. The University photographer does not generally take photos of graduands. All photos captured by the University photographer during convocation will be posted to the public McMaster Convocation Flickr account, and will be available for anyone to view or download and print. For photos captured prior to May 2011, please contact the Office of the President at (905) 525-9140 ext. 24340 or email .
