This is a guide for Undergraduate students. Registration Information for Graduate, M.B.A., C.C.E. (Continuing Education) students can be found at their respective websites.
It is recommended that students review the Student Academic Responsibilities and Important Dates and Deadlines for Fall/Winter 2007/08 before proceeding. Students can also print off the Getting Registered Checklist PDF to ensure that nothing is forgotten.

Accept Offer and Attend Academic Counselling
- Incoming First Year students who have decided to attend McMaster University must respond to their Offer of Admission
- Students should respond to their Offer of Residence if applicable.
- Students who wish to learn more about program specific course choices or would like faculty specific advice are encouraged to attend an Academic Counselling session.
- Check your personal SOLAR entry date by logging into MUGSI under My Academics and select SOLAR, locating the 'Date Available' listed for you for 'UNDERGRAD REGISTRATION/COURSE SELECTION' for the SEP 2007 SESSION

Plan Your Course & Fees
- Students should plan ahead and register as early as possible on your SOLAR entry date as all Undergraduate courses now have enrolment capacities.
- Because students are limited on SOLAR to 45 minute sessions at specific hours of the day to register, it is important to think ahead before you go online to select your courses.
- Plan out the courses that you will need to complete your degree requirements for the year. This information can be found in the Undergraduate Calendar or returning students can request a Degree Audit on MUGSI.
- The Undergraduate Calendar is an invaluable resource for determining how much of a student's course load can be composed of electives as well as help students plan which elective courses interest them.

- Be sure to review, gather and plan all financial information to be ready including Tuition, Residence, Meal Plans, Financial Aid and Payment Arrangements

How to Submit Course Selections
- Log on to SOLAR via MUGSI (The link for SOLAR is under My Academics)
- Select 'UNDERGRAD REGISTRATION/COURSE SELECTION for the SEP 2007 SESSION' and review the Personal Restrictions and Conditions
- You have an initial 7 day window to complete your registration from your initial login to Registration/Course Selection, after this initial period you will not be able to make changes until SOLAR opens back up to you on July 16, 2007.
- Add or Drop your desired courses
- Be sure to Verify and Apply all changes or they will not be implemented

Submit & Pay Your Fees
- After selecting your course load you will be required to complete a Payment Agreement for completion.
- Your academically approved registration will not be complete until such a time as a Payment Agreement has been submitted

Track, Confirm & Change
- You can track the progress of your registration via the Program & Course Summary link on the My Academics section of MUGSI
- After Academic and Financial approval has been granted to your registration you will be sent a Registration Confirmation letter along with your validation sticker (and Student ID card if applicable)
- It is possible to change your course selection without academic penalty using SOLAR after July 16, 2007 until September 17th for Term 1 and 3 courses and until January 16, 2008 for Term 2 courses.
